VSS Monitoring vBroker System Improves Overall Network Operations

Businesses run on the strength of their networks. Whether it's just one user going it alone or a company-wide attempt, having the best communications capability to do the job is vital to continued operation.

VSS Monitoring (News - Alert) has introduced vBroker, a set of network packet broker systems designed to not only give better visibility, but improve overall performance of the network itself.

The vBroker system, containing an entire family of products, offers an industry first: a system-level approach which allows users to both connect and maintain visibility at the link level and even manage multiple packet brokers at once, providing an entire system that extends to multiple locations.

The vBroker 200 appliance boasts a modular chassis, as well as capacity in either 1RU or 2RU versions, so its capability can be adjusted according to needs and budget. The vBroker 300, meanwhile, offers up extreme capacity in the 1RU format, and even includes 56 ports for rapid and easy to manage connectivity.

But it's not just appliances that comprise the vBroker family; being released at the same time is the vMesh system, a mesh architecture that can interconnect as many as 256 VSS Monitoring NPBs, and at least 10,000 ports. The vMesh system is meant to work well with large networks, making it a fine choice in terms of centralizing security systems or monitoring functions, and can be scaled to best meet both needs and budgets with an approach, called by some, "pay as you grow."

Lastly, there's a new management console to help keep it all in line: the appropriately-titled vMC. The vMC system allows users to manage several VSS Monitoring NPBs at once from one single location that's also easy to work with. There are even reporting functions, allowing users to make charts and graphs at the local level, or even across the network, for those times when visibility is important to the whole company, like when expansions are being considered.

Pricing has also been announced for these different facets of the vBroker system: the vMesh system starts at $800 per device, while the vBroker 200 appliance sells for $27,500. The vBroker 300, meanwhile, will go for $57,500. These may be big prices for smaller companies, but those with larger networks should find them very welcome.

Keeping the network running to its fullest capacity is a great way to ensure not only that employees are as productive as possible, but a better result for the bottom line itself. While the vBroker system may seem expensive, the value of a top-flight network is readily apparent, and makes the line seem well worth looking into further.
