Corporate networks are fraught with risks as organizations get caught in the maze of personal mobile devices, social networking platforms and virtual environments. With predators on the prowl, it has become incumbent on enterprises to detect and prioritize cyber threats. Tenable Network Security has released an arsenal that claims to help them do just that.
Announcing the release of its Nessus vulnerability scanner that integrates with Apple (News - Alert) Profile Manger and Microsoft Exchange via Active directory, Tenable is offering a single platform that apparently discovers mobile devices and keeps organizations ahead of mobile threats.
"We're pushing the boundaries of network security by offering a single platform that discovers mobile devices and keeps organizations ahead of mobile threats," said Ron Gula, CEO at Tenable Network Security.
With the Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) concept becoming a rage, employee smartphones and iPads are pervading the corporate environment, jeopardizing networks, increasing vulnerabilities and making security a top priority.
In fact, studies indicate that the average mobile worker carries 3.5 mobile devices at all times, a number that has doubled within the past three years and will likely continue to grow, which increases the risk to enterprises.
The Nessus vulnerability scanner, touted to be industry's most widely deployed vulnerability assessment solution, makes an inventory of mobile devices on their network, obtains specific mobile device information, discovers jailbroken iOS devices and itemizes out-of-date versions of Apple iOS.
With the help of the Nessus Mobile Device Audit plugins, corporate, security managers, executives and more can get a comprehensive view of the mobile environment and vulnerability status. This helps prioritize mobile device threats.
This new capability will be available to all Nessus users with no additional charge. A beta feature is currently available and this is likely to expand in the near future to include more devices and more mobile iOS.
Spectrami, a Dubai-based value added distribution house, revealed plans to work alongside Tenable Networks Security. The companies will hold a technical workshop all about enterprise vulnerability management that will be presented to channel partners spread across the Middle East region.
