Lancope Adds Dashboards to StealthWatch System

Flow-based security and network performance monitoring experts at Lancope announced new dashboards for its StealthWatch System product at Cisco (News - Alert) Live earlier this month. The service detects network behaviors that signify a DDoS or other type of attack, giving service providers a holistic view of everything happening across a network, scalable to millions of flows per second.

Jody Ma Kissling, vice president of marketing, met with TMCnet at the Cisco Live event earlier this month and said Lancope takes information from the NetFlow software resident in all Cisco routers and switches to do network security and monitoring to provide anomaly detection.

StealthWatch can detect APTs, worms, viruses, botnets, data leakage and internal policy violations across both physical and virtual environments. It delivers application awareness and automatic threat prioritization, yielding higher performance on networks, faster mean time to realization, and a return on investment of 259 percent.

The Lancope product was initially available as an appliance, she said, but earlier this year the company rolled out a virtualized solution.

“The service provider industry must be vigilant in protecting its networks from online attackers due to the key role it plays in critical infrastructure and the number of businesses and individuals that depend upon it every day,” said Chris Smithee, strategic solutions architect for Lancope. “In recent years, large-scale service providers have increasingly been suffering from DDoS attacks that impact their customers’ networks. In such a competitive marketplace, providers cannot afford to have their networks compromised and reputation tarnished by stealthy intruders.”

Lancope recently expanded its partnership with Cisco to offer the Cyber Threat Defense Solution, combining StealthWatch with advanced network and security technologies from Cisco “to quickly detect dangerous, elusive threats lurking inside enterprise networks,” according to both companies.

Early threat detection also allows organizations to uncover potential network risks before they adversely impact internal, partner and customer environments.
