TransNexus Chosen by PingTone for Least Cost Routing and Fraud Detection

With the rising size and complexity of VoIP telecommunication networks, it’s no surprise that PingTone, a provider of telecommunications and unified communications solutions, was on the lookout a solution to automate their Dynamic Least Cost and Quality of Service routing services. Moreover, the rise in telecom complexity has led to a rise in telecom fraud, which PingTone also sought to address.

TransNexus (News - Alert), a provider of VoIP network management software, has announced that it has been selected by PingTone to meet these very needs. The TransNexus NexOSS will work alongside PingTone’s BroadWorks softswitch platform and Oracle Acme Packet (News - Alert) Session Border Controllers in an effort to ensure consistent call quality and maximize profits for PingTone. Specifically, NexOSS will analyze Call Detail Records (CDRs) and other data provided by the other two systems to deliver Dynamic Least Cost and Quality of Service routing, optimizing network performance.

As for combating fraud, telecom fraud detection and control is built into the NexOSS routing engine, designed to block or divert fraudulent automatically.

 ”International calling fraud risk from customers whose network, passwords, or VoIP endpoints have been hacked is a huge risk that can cost tens of thousands of dollars per fraud event. To avoid that risk, we needed a fraud tool that could block fraudulent calls in near real time,” says Glen Gaillard, PingTone’s vice president of engineering. “The TransNexus solution has been a great tool for managing our network because it is designed for easy integration with our BroadSoft and Oracle (News - Alert) Acme Packet platforms. Having extensive reports and fraud control as an integral part of our routing solution provides us additional visibility and control of our operations.”
